Bathing/Surfing beach with Japan-wide famous sunsets over the rock island.

Long surfing and swimming beach with several beach cafe's on the shore. The main swimming area is a little around the corner. The rocky outcrop is about half way along and has great religious significance. Lots of parking in official car parks, but they do get packed in summer. Gorgeous sunsets - sun setting over the rocks is in all the "best sunsets of Japan books".
Just opposite the rocks is a carpark - adjacent to the carpark is a road going up the hill - it is actually going to a cemetery, so don't drive too far. However, just before the cemetery, on the left, is a small wooden viewing platform that gives a wonderful raised view of the whole area. (You may see another structure temptingly further up the hill - don't bother with it, it is in the cemetary proper and not open for visitors).
